The Akita is a large and powerful breed originating from Japan. Akitas have a strong and muscular build, with males standing around 26 to 28 inches at the shoulder and females slightly smaller. They typically weigh between 45 to 59 kg. 

Akitas have a broad head with a well-defined stop, small triangular eyes, and erect, triangular ears. They have a dense double coat, which can come in various colors including white, brindle, and shades of red.

In terms of eating habits, Akitas require a balanced and nutritious diet to maintain their overall health. Akitas are known for their loyalty, courage, and strong protective instincts. They are typically reserved and aloof with strangers, but they form strong bonds with their families and are extremely dedicated . 

Early socialization is essential to ensure they grow up to be well-mannered and accepting of new people and situations. Akitas are intelligent and independent dogs that require consistent and firm leadership in training.
